WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display a preview of an Best item upgrader's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade items recipe. For instance, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
