The item upgrade was first introduced in Generation II. This item upgrade allows Porygon2 to grow when traded while held.

Recycle points

Recycle points are a form of item that can be used to upgrade items. You can earn them through recycling plastic and cans or by completing missions. Substats

The sub-stats are random however, they can be improved in a variety of ways. Contrary to the main stats that increase with each upgrade item, the sub-stats may be upgraded randomly on any of the four slots. The number of sub-stats that an artifact can possess is determined by its rank which is Rank 2, with Rank 2 having no sub-stats at all and five for Rank 5. Each sub-stat has a certain range it can be generated within, based on its rareness.

If you'd like to have a better probability of getting a certain sub-stat you can use REFINE to boost it by four levels. This will cost you MORA. Another way to increase the sub-stats of an item is to look for duplicates of it. You can then enhance duplicates to give them higher rarity or a different set sub-stats. This is an effective strategy for high-level players to increase their character's DPS. However, you should be cautious not to overdo it or risk losing your MORA.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens let players reroll an item that's currently equipped by a specific unit. After rerolling, the item will be exchanged for a version that is level 1 of the same item, but with additional bonuses, and a different type of equipment (such as cups, knives watches, books, or cups). Rerolling an item can raise its ilvl in certain cases. Rerolling an item is only useful in the case of items with a rare affix.

Rerolling an object resets its power base including all upgrades and substats. This is helpful when a ring's substats not what the user is looking for or if a ring's maximum power was lower than desired. The token for rerolling is available from various sources like the skulled creatures, the mystery box or as a reward after killing the boss.

Rings, armor, weapons and other items can all be transformed. Weapons can be rerolled for physical power, spellpower, or health. Rings can be rerolled to increase durability or damage, and armor can be rerolled to lessen damage or improve defense. In addition, rerolling a crafted item will create an item that is rare-like and similar characteristics to the ingredient equipment item. Rerolled items don't retain its owner's ilvl, and any resources thrown away will not be compensated.

Rerolling can be accomplished by pressing the green button with an arrow that is circling on the items menu. The button will not be visible on any item that is currently equipped by an enemy unit. To roll an object, the player must have at least one reroll token in his inventory. The player will have to select the stat they would like to reroll and confirm their action. In certain situations the reroll might take longer than anticipated. Rerolling systems have a large number possible combinations. In these instances, the player can use a second re-roll token to accelerate the process.

Item level

The level of an item is an important statistic that indicates the quality of an item. Players can use it to evaluate the different items and choose which is better for their particular style of play. This includes cloaks, rings, shoulders, neck, chest back, wrists, hands, feet and legs, waist and weapons in the off hand. The ilvl of the weapon is considered twice, since the main hand and the off hand have different iLevels.

The iLevel decides which stats are given priority. Certain stats are more valuable than others depending on the class or spec. Crit rating, for example is expensive, whereas haste rating can be cheap. The item level determines how much of the budget for the item's ilvl is spent on primary and secondary stats, and how much is left for effects and procs.
